No George, of course your not going mad!
Backs away slowly .......
Well i hope MS is fixing it for me, over 2 weeks later and they say they havn`t recieved it yet. So with one missing, and one out of warranty i`m now xboxless. F@#ked if im buying another 360, they can shove there money up there cashed up asses, i might have a heap of cheap games for sale if my elite doesn`t turn up soon.
Guess i should change my sig to an anti xbox one..hint hint cadder
<raises an eyebrow>
I have a Hong Kong silver one, they're cool because you can't see the dust as much as you do on black things so it's almost like it isn't there.
Well 3 weeks later my xbox has finally turned up to be fixed. Just hope it doesnt take another 3 weeks to get back to me. I suppose i should be happy it isnt lost...yet
3 weeks! Was it lost by Aus Post? I can't imagine mail takes that long from Weeipa?
Damn dude, I hope it does not take that long to get it back either!
Im guessing Aus post lost it as mail doesnt take 3 weeks from here normally.
That sux, but at least they habe it now. Let us know when you are back XBOXing. I am hanging for a game of R6V2.
Just a little tip exploit, if you have been running it on its side. Dont!
The major cause of RRoD in even elite units is due to piss poor thermal paste on the cpu/gpu and heatsinks
It seems to leak out once the system heats up and is on its side. But generally the stock setup is flawed regardless of console orientation, having it on its side is just a no go for it as it almost garuntees the problem to occur.
There is a kit you can buy that allows you to re paste the cpu/gpu and their heatsinks with higher quality stuff and also some thermal pads for some of the other chips on the board that virtually eliminate any overheating caused by Microsoft's bad design. That is if you are up to the opening of console etc, but I know a few people who have done this and had no problems in fact the RRoD issue can be resolved after the fact too if you know how rather than relying on MS support.
Thanks for the info Gaara. I would certainly give it a go on an XBOX that is past warranty, but would ship back to M$ any unit that fails before the warranty period is up, just to be on the safe side.
With the new Falcon chipset, have you heard of any falures? The RROD issue seems to have died down quite a bit in the last 6 months.
Exploit, you back in the land of the living XBOX?
Yeah, I am sorely tempted to modify my working one with the thermal pads etc though to redice the likely hood of it happening to begin with atm.
As for the current chipset.. well seems ok now. Interestingly enough, the Pro consoles are being retired shortly to be replaced by elites completely.
If that is the case ... than SONY must be making a PS3 announcement soon.
I wonder what this years Christmas bundles will be?
Well M$ will be having a to of pro bundles at extremely low prices to move all their stock so they can release elite models proper. As for sony, I am fairly confident you will see a price drop by the end of the year. (finally) due to things like this and constant pressure to do so. Also there is much conjecture flying about in regards to a 'slim' ps3 on the way at some point soon, courtesy of anon tispster on some chinese website showing a cpl of apparent images of said console. Sony arent saying anything one way or the other though.
