It's Black. It's Shiny. It's Wifi enabled right out of the box.

    So who's getting one? :)

I am thinking of trading in the ol' 60gb box for it, as it'll already save me $150 on the Wifi adaptor.

No, I currently have to plug the damn thing in with the ol' blue network cable. This way I can get the wifi built in, plus the larger HD.

Not sure how much of a trade in I'll get, but at least the new box is shipping for the same price as the old.

Someone has already modded the new XBOX slim and I have to say it was a good mod. Shame the manufacturer's don't thing of this idea. Would sell more maybe.

Something from the video I noticed when he was trying to get the disk out the case was moving a lot. Like the PS3 before it I'm thinking a stand might be required when standing upright.

Otherwise a sexy machine when modded.

It is now impossible for an XBOX to get the red ring of death.

I traded in my "original" 360 Elite (Well out of warranty and very noisy ... but still works fine) and a wireless adaptor on a pre-order for one of these new "silent" units ... I have $148 change over price.

Not to bad considering the wireless is built in and faster than the old version plus the Hard Drive is 130Gb bigger :)

I'm surprised they haven't gone with a Blueray as well.

This would add to the machines appeal and longetivity.

I would imagine as this is just a re-design rather than a new box, MS will be saving the Blu-ray for XBOX III - The Search For More Money. :)

Would switching to blue ray not stop all the games working as they are hd-dvd's?

Weren't some manufacturers producing combo HD-DVD/Blu Ray players at one time? The technology is out there for a dual player.

Besides...PS3 is Sony right? and Sony owns Blu Ray. Would you license your technology to Microsoft, one of your biggest opponents in the console biz?

HDDVD is dead and Bluray belongs to SONY (You need to pay a licence fee I believe). It is the same reason the original XBOX did not come out DVD ready. M$ claimed it would add to much to the price of the console.

I think when HD DVD went the way of the doddo Sony went into negotitions with Microsoft to put BlueRay's in their machines.
The fact MS have not speaks volumes.

HD DVD's...........didn't think 360's had that in their guts.
    12X dual-layer DVD-ROM I think.

If they put in BlueRay drives it would read DVD's so existing games would work.

360 games are just DVD, you had to buy an external HD DVD drive to watch movies. The death of HD DVD was good for my collection, i got heaps of movies for $5 EACH
