    Well thoughts?

    Yeah ?

    Nay ?

I read a review on it and it sounded awesome.

Wanted to know what you boys and gals thought first.

Also if you have purchased the game through STEAM how big is the download?

    Fallout 3 is better.

Yes and no. F3 is more RPG, Stalker is more FPS. Stalker is also kinda buggy from what I've heard and you need a beast of a system to run it well.

    Have you played it Drac?
I've not played F3, but STALKER clear sky is a pretty good one IMHO. It was a mongrel to get the graphics setting balanced for my set-up, but once I did that, then patched it, it worked a dream. The textures were a bit too rich for me; way too much bump mapping.

The annoying bugs include odd responses; eg, buying for a trader he basically says good bye when you start up the trade routine. He should be saying "hello". Duh!

Gameplay is good, unless you lose your kit in the dark like some hapless camper
I'm not a RPG fan, but running around collecting stuff and going on missions of my choosing suits me fine. The atmosphere is fantastic... day/night and weather changes are very well done. Clouds will come over and it'll get darker, then the sun's out again.

I bought my copy from zest for about $25 so I can't comment on the DL version, however it's HUGE!

    SPOILER:
oh yeah, getting mugged really pissed me off

Hey thanks very much for the response Way.

Its between this and Fallout 3 really. I like to play the ass off a game not much of a switcher between games. I think I will go for Stalker it just seems to be a little different for some reason. I just finished ready a article on it in Atomic mag. They really rate it. Was keen to know what the "bugs" are in it. So you answered that for me. Yeah must investigate the download size.
Might post up in the lounge and find out if anyone has done this.

Well, I haven't finished it yet, but so far the game engine seems fine and no obvious pitfalls in the plot.
There was a bot last night who walked through a wall, turned, looked at me, then levitated through the ceiling. Sometimes it's hard telling the difference between games and real life ;)

I have never seen a game where the bots are perfect.
Cyris I think has terible bots as well.
They just stand there scratching their heads while you shoot at them.

I think I will go for Stalker first then Fallout 3.

Hmmmm thats a little worrying then.
    Same setup as me.

    I have a 4870 x 2 in mine. Haven't overclocked the quad yet.

If you couldn't get it to run smooth I may have trouble too then.

    Do you run Vista?

Here's the screenies of my graphics settings.
    one
    two
    three
    four
    five
    six

Two points: I am not using full screen (see image one) but the graphics turn out fine at these low settings.
My video card is not as good as the 4870 so you might be able to go full screen, but asking the 8800gts to do high quality at 1920x1600res is a bit much.

I also recorded a couple of movies at these settings so PM me for link which will show you how yummy the candy is at these settings... I can only imagine how nice it'd be with two 4870s :)

I'll give your settings a go Wayfarer when i get a chance inbetween FarCry2, and L4D.
Still dissapoints having to back off the settings to make it run smooth, I like the candy.

    Cheers.

Maybe He's trying to tell you something Way:p;):D
Have to agree with Way (and My soul will probably rot in Hell for that reason alone:eek:;):D), It's an absolute Pr!ck to get set up right, But once you hit that sweet spot, it really is a really amazing immersive game. but don't pike out Parkey, play it on Master for a real challenge:D, also cause your getting it now You won't have to restart umpteen times because of patching (Unless of coarse you get the wrong patch:D)

    hahahaha

I had to dull down the setting when I had a 8800GT on Crysis. I didn't mind really as it was still a awesome game and awesome graphics even on the lower settings.
I have a beast of a graphics card so thinking it should be able to take it on.

I think I'm sold on Stalker now. I was going to go Fallout 3 but I will give Stalker a go first I think.

Looking forward to a new challenge.

I have both and like both, but I think I like STALKER better.

Damn this game can be frustrating! :)
I was out somewhere, stuck up on a rock surrounded by those evil dogs and bloodsuckers, running low on health packs and ammo with no end in sight... well, not the end I wanted. It took me over an hour spread across two nights to work out how to get out of it. The game just keeps on giving! :)

    Well grabbed my copy yesterday.
Im a little confused by some of it. The whole bolt throwing thing has me farked.
    Maybe something from the orginal?
This whole radiation thing has me stuffed. I walked into one area and got the beeping happening. I backed straight out. But my health kept declining.
Also my health sometimes just started declining, is this due to a wound?
I find myself out of health packs only 20min into the game.

These calls for help just keep coming, I cant make it to half of them. Quite annoying actually.

Graphics are great, movement could be better, shotgun looks fake, the range on the shotgun is pathetic. All in all very impressed with the overall game though.

Im just hoping this goes somewhere not just a call from help every 2mins.

You can choose to ignore the Help requests, but this will alter the ingame plot line or mission scenarios ( Like in RL) also the Bolt thing is a tool to help you find anomalies that could kill you (I.E if in doubt chuck a Bolt ), Radiation- If the Rad goes red or Blips even slightly ....GET OUT...... And if you have the Dosh buy Rad Pens (Syringes) and always check dead Bodies for any Med Kits..... Small Meds are only Bandages that will stop You from bleeding out but you need the large box Meds to restore some health, also eating will also restore some Health
Have you patched it to the latest 1.5.07 patch yet Parkey
