I put some $ towards it on Kickstarter when it first got listed there. Shroud of the Avatar: Forsaken Virtues by Portalarium, Inc. — Kickstarter Regards, B
I'm definately behind this. First glimpse of Alpha is eight months away. Launch is scheduled for Dec 2014, and it is one that I don't think will be vapourware. New Britannia - bring it on!
I'm a backer as well. I hope this game stirs enough interest to end up with a dedicated section for discussion here - or at least active discussion threads. I think it has the potential to be a major MMO and offline RPG both. Kind of unique in that way, it seems. It is entering the final hours of the Kickstarter now and seems to have enough momentum to pass 1.8M stretch goal easily. I suspect that if they leave Paypal donations running it will eventually make it to $2M+, which is where players and guilds can own castles and keeps in towns.
Would be great if there was more market exposure. I only found out about it by pure accident. Richard Garriott knows what he's doing and I simply can't wait to immerse myself into SotA.
I have a big problem with this game, it's a hybrid MMO/single player and I don't think it is going to work. When it was first announced I was very excited expecting a new and improved UO, now I thinking that LB hasn't really thought this through. LB has made some serious money from the gaming industry, it's too bad he hasn't put forward some of his own dosh, seeing as he's such a genius and everything.
FYI for those who backed an earlier Kickstarter game called Star Citizen they are doing a bit of cross promoting by giving an ingame item to their backers who throw some cash this way.
40-odd minutes left to back this game! Come on Ultima fans, there's got to be a few more of you out there! Kickstarter Page Homepage with live stream of countdown
Pretty excited for this. Spent way too many sleepless nights running around Britannia and Sosaria not to be. It'll be great to get a good representation from TOG in the game as since it hit the 2mil goal it looks like guilds are going to have a lot of fun. Can't wait to get my boxed copy
I'm also looking forward to having a good number of TOG members in one or more guilds there. It looks like things may be free-form enough that we can really manage a guild however is desired. I don't care so much about the boxed copy, but a few of the housing possibilities at higher levels are pretty interesting and I'm really looking forward to seeing how this all plays out. Of course, now we settle down into the long period of waiting for alpha for anything other than just general discussion. But I'm hopeful that they will be able to pull off a much more immersive game that most that we have seen in recent years.
I kicked in some cash for this one too. Lord British and Britanna how can it go wrong. Only issue I see is that half the kickstarter games I'm waiting for are all around 4th quarter 2014..... busy time indeed
