I have had GFWL issues lately and the M$ help..well doesn't.

I have downloaded the latest GFWL client and installed it, but when I start up S8, try to log into GFWL ingame screen, it keeps telling me there is an update available.

I just installed the bloody thing!

I install direct from the website link because every time I let the client update itself, it hangs and does nothing.

    Any Ideas?

I am having an issue with the GFWL and section 8. The GFWL is trying to update the game, but the update is only working for DVD copies of the game. Apparently TGS and Valve are working on it. Maybe next week.

So, if I do the steam update, it will work for me? I have a DVD version of the game.

Well, Vista update fails at this update.
Come to think of it, Vista fails...at most things!

    :( true that..

So is the game play at least something worth writing home about? MP that is..
I was looking at the game, and a few in the bf2142 div brought it up b4 it came out.
    But what is the verdict?

Yeah what MaMo said. Have we got a frontlines on our hands or are there Australian servers with people on them?

When I first got the game, there were at least 5 official servers available. Last time I was on, there were only 2 in the lobby. Not sure if it's bandwidth or low player numbers that killed them off.
Will try again after this post.

OK, update worked, but took at least 30 minutes on my connection (1500 adsl).
The bad news is, after update, there was only 1 server available - TA2, which had about 10 players on at the time.

    Was it fun? (=

I think the advantage of a smaller community would be that everyone would get to know each other a lot better.

Yeah, it's fun, but species with smaller numbers tend to die out a lot quicker...
Maybe the TA2 server will have a following much the same as the TOG BF2142 server does.

And much as I do in BF2142, I like the vehicles in this game too. 4 stations in a tank instead of 2 - makes for bigger bangs!
But definitely 3 things makes this a different type of game.

First is the shields. Some like it, some hate it. I don't mind either way, but it gives noobs like me a fighting chance.
Second is the kit customising. You are not limited to any type of kit (ie engy, assault, etc.) you can mix and match anyway you want :)
Third is the jump packs and over drive. Cool ways of getting around the field in a hurry. When combined with lock-on, taking out an opponent in mid flight (you or him) makes for a spectacular shot.

Do the shields work like they do in say another game like Borderlands?

(Which is to say, shields recharge if out of combat for a while, and with talents on killshots. Recharges faster than something like Health which often doesn't heal up at all.)

    Don't know about Borderlands.
It takes a lot of rounds to drop someone's shield, but there are passive modules that allow shields to recover quicker than normal too.
Damage has to be repaired though.

thinking of getting this, had fun in beta, nice fast action to get straight into. :)

This game tends to suit my sporadic game availablity, so now have it. :)

    GFWL ID: Zhuyn

Will try and host whenever I'm on, unless I see an AUS one up already. Seems to be peer to peer. edit: hmm seems there are dedicated ranked servers or can host O.O

Spose I should see if there are port recommendations...

I really enjoyed this game a lot in Beta... would be very happy to pick it up at a bargain price with a swag of TOGgers and smash it up here and there...

has it dropped in price at all???

I think it was 50% off yesterday on steam, but don't bother, it is dead now :(
Actually, NA primtime it isn't bad so you might find a full server, but OC is miserable.

Its a shame, is really fun when you find enough people on.
