My computer is defunct currently so I wasnt able to play the beta.

Having come from BF2142 I'm all about squads and teamwork, etc. Anything to promote that in the game? Is there VOIP or will it all be clans using teamspeak?

Rubicon, I thought most games rewarded teamwork really? :D
This just does it in a more obvious way I suppose, true.

When PUGing I did find it fun disrupting the opposite sides team by hitting different targets and capping them in succession, thereby forcing them to split up and hunt me down.

I also had a lot of fun speccing "tank" sorta with max armour, target lock and damage, running close to the opposing player and gunning them down before they killed me. Didn't worry about shield spec as close range firing ignores shield anyway. Creative use of corners and structures is needed to get close enough before they see you.

From memory there is no ingame VOIP, so would require Vent/TS. And I agree, a small coordinated group would be very fun.

Still thinking about getting this, may do in the near future.

I just read that the game uses Windows Live. Can someone please confirm this for me. I am intrested in playing the game as it reminds me of Tribes but if I have to use the horror that is Windows live to find games I will not waste my money on it.

    Is this what you mean?
    About Live

Is it built into the game or is it an extra thing you have to setup?

My experiance with live comes from the XBox 360 and the Beta for Dawn of War 2. I really didnt like how Live took alot of the control away from the user. An example is as to what servers/gamers I could play on. It used a rather silly system of matching players rep to try and find an even game for players.

There where times where I would be sitting waiting for a game in a lobby for 30min+.

Compare thsi to steam TF2 where I can filter servers, look for friends and have a fav list. I can even join a queue for one or more servers.

Maybe Windows Live has changed since I used it but if it hasnt I will side step any online game using it until MS makes it the same quality as Steam.

Its built into the game Ned. It links your PC gaming exploits to your "gamercard" which also covers everything you get up to on XBox Live. Other PC games that include it are the latest GTA, Gears of War, Dawn of War 2...

I should add though that its improved markedly. When I first installed Gears of War, I had to go through all sorts of shit to stop it crashing to desktop. :(

But you can choose your own servers right? There IS a server browser and not some stupid matchmaking thing?

In Open Beta you could do either way from in-game.

Just bought it on Tuesday (20th Oct). Very pretty and challenging gameplay.

Have one problem. every few minutes or so, the game hangs, then continues 30 to 50 seconds later, with the world continuing to revolve around my corpse...
Any one else have this problem?
Once this problem is sorted, I'm keen to get on a MP session with TOGgers...

BTW, No matchmaking - server lists available to select. About 5 or 6 official servers in Australia so far AFAIK.

Sounds like a driver issue to me, like your card just stalls for a bit.

rather disappointed with this, no one is ever playing, unless you can get on a US server, even then my ping is through the roof and get booted because of it, single player version was rather short and ....well just lacking!

Aussie servers are there, just refresh.
I was online on Sunday and there were 4 people on one of them.
Didn't know what I was doing, but I was there.
If we want to match up against other TOGgers, let's nominate a time. Coord by TS, I suppose.
