    No you aren't!! :p

I'll give it a crack, even if it's just to support PC driven titles - but honestly, I don't hold out too much hope for this. It was all set to be cutting edge two years ago - and it's still potentially another year away...

What it's got going for it, is there really isn't any competition. The CODs and Battlefields are not (in my opinion) in the same league as RO, and I'd only consider Arma in the same ballpark... and unfortunately it kinda fell in it's own heap. Good game, but one for the fans only.

The eternal difficulty with "realist" titles like RO (and Arma) are that when you're on the receiving end of a veteran with a rifle - it just feels like you're playing against a hacker. Where one-shot kills always (as it should!) it very often strips out the fun factor of games. Finding the balance of fun and realism is always the greatest hurdle for these titles.

Hoping they get it all right, and out soon!! :)

From what I have understood from listening to the interviews with the CEO of Tripwire, and other interviews on the game, while it is a lot more like playing Hardcore on some of the other FPS games in that if you get shot, its a really REALLY bad thing, there has been a lot of effort put into making sure that the player is involved in the game.

Looking at the number of people who play hardcore versions of games where one shot is one kill, I am sure that there will be a core that will jump in.

Knowing how well the tweaked the game play mechanics of RO to make it work, especially with the combined arms including tanks and artillery and how well that game worked, not to mention the longevity that it achieved in game-play I am hoping that this one will be a winner.

At least we know its not going to suffer from a borked console based browser etc.

The release date for this has been set August 31.
:bighappy: :bighappy: :bighappy: :bighappy: :bighappy: :bighappy: :bighappy:

From the information on the discussion board, the press interviews and now the information available on Steam it is looking like this one will be the FPS that I have been looking forward to for a long long time.

Good combined arms, good physics and a destructible environment that is not silly, a cover system that is good, but you need to be aware that a table may hide you from view, but won't hide you from the fire of a MG34.

Given that this is a PC only product it is going to provide us with an experience that has not been nurfed by needing to run on consoles.

Pricing in the USA is set for #39.99 with other regions Australia etc, yet to be set.

Announcement here RO2 Release Date - Tripwire Interactive Forums

Steam details here Red Orchestra 2: Heroes of Stalingrad on Steam

Right now it unlocks in approximately 2 months, 1 week, 3 days and 9 hours

Not that I am counting or anything.

Definitely on my 'to buy' list. Both this and BF3 should keep me away from the evil COD empire. :p

Interesting, a game that will use PB and VAC.

This will give us a better chance of fair gaming and also provide server admins with strong admin tools.

    :)

I like the fact that it has both PB and VAC.

PB seems to be a lot better at catching and dealing with the cheaters.

Having your WHOLE Steam collection locked out due to a VAC ban is a significant disincentive to cheating.

I like this news a lot.

    *start rant*
*sigh* ..i pre-orderd 1st thing this morning, and now 9 hours later they adjust the text box to say we are getting the low violence version ......$%#@......i remeber SOF2 ......back when gamers werent nannied by the state.
ive having a bad L4D2 flashback ..a game i payed $90 for ..only to play 21 minutes of after finding out we got the german version.
    I r is not impressed.
Srsly , they need to tell NSW to stuff it self and let the states decide , as WA would bloody well get R18+ as we can watch alot worse in the dam cinema at a M15+ rating .......grrrrrrrrrrrrr
    *end rant*

Ps ...yes iver been reading and following the Gov gen annoucements concerning the agreement in principle rubbish.

Tripwire have admitted this was their decision, to lumber Australians with the low violence version because RO2 hasn't yet been classified in Australia - this, despite the original RO not being classified in Australia. Go figure.

Same. Oh well, hoping that they ratify an R rating in the not too distant future so us adults can enjoy our entertainment that we pay for.

the other thing is we are paying full price for a partial game thanks to the removal of some of the content...mind you the price is pretty good compared to certain AAA companys ....but you cant shake the feeling of being jipped just a little.
But i do hope they get clearance ...if you can slaughter civies in MW2 ...then give me back my dam dismeberment.

Oh well, I've removed this game from my "to buy" list.
I was really looking forward to this one as well.

Edit: It was #1 on my Steam wishlist :?

Things may change once they get a formal classification decision through (it's not 100% clear if they've submitted yet, even though they intend to), but the clock's ticking down to release and there isn't much time left...
