Video preview here! OK, after reading the Polygon review and checking out some information on the new mechanics, I think I might have to pick this one up after skipping the last... um, like 20 games (stopped about 1/6 of the way through a Japanese Emerald emulator). More features, more online play options, a 3D world, and EVs and HVs seem to be simplified (these were never really explained in the games themselves before, which was why few kids could even compete with teens/adults even when using technically higher tier pokemon). Anyone else gonna fess up and admit to (considering to) playing it?
I've played every one of them on the DS, but I'm actually not sure about some of the features on this one. Can't say I like the idea of the mega evolutions. And with the online features, it depends on how it's actually implemented. Like in the Black and White series, the dream world stuff was an interesting idea, but the website games were super obnoxious, for little reward. So I'm at least keeping an eye on them for now and will decide in what, about 3 weeks now?
Well, I’m looking forward to this. I missed out on the last generation consisting of Black and White 1/2 but am certainly excited to see what this game can bring for the Pokemon series. The hype is all in the refresh of how the game is played and I hope it works out.

Also, for folks who don't know, check Serebii.net for poke info, or if you're a vet trying to figure out if you should play the game, there's a gen 2 guy that did a live blogging session a bit before release. Seems to have enjoyed the game so far. I did some of gen 3 myself, but I agree with some of the comments.

Yes, definitely loving this one so far. Only just a bit past the first gym, but the Pokemon are everywhere. Opened up the daycare, so used my female fennekin and the wife's male one, and I have little fennekin running around now. Need to start collecting the other two starters. (need female chespin and both froakie)
