I went through Happ Controls and purchased buttons and a couple sticks. Then mounted those in a box and wired. Also added an autofire switch that has a dial to set repeat rate.

Little bit of time in the shop, but it made a nice arcade console type controller.

My arcade stick arrived. It is actually made by Mayflash. Here is their website...

    PS2/PS3/PC USB/GC/Wii/XBOX 360 Fighting Stick

It was easy to set up. I was playing games within minutes. It also works with just about any of the consoles. The only annoying thing is the joystick has a distictive click sound when moved, but i will be wearing headphones mostly and won't hear it, so pretty much exactly what I was after :)

Yeah, I bought mine from Ozstick. They just change the buttons on a Mayflash and resell it.
Even came in a Mayflash box.

I have just thrown out a couple of old Amiga joysticks I had driven by a ripped out keyboard encoder (breaks the heart really), mostly because I have a few adapters now for Xbox->USB PC (just a pin reshuffle really) and PS2->USB PC (adapter).

I do love the idea of old school joysticks, and I almost bought a full encoder to make my own from an internet site, but the convinience of using ready found arcade controllers won over (sigh).

I must be losing it ...

I use an x-arcade dualstick. Love it :) .. but cost just over 200 bucks when I bought it.
