Anyone figured out how to load a remote area after a server reboot, such as the nether?

Nope, you need to revist it after every reboot. Saves issues for the server by not loading them.

That's a problem... lava pumps are way off in the nether and it's not enough to just step into the portal.

    Other ideas?

Make the trip to the pump and take a blank link book with you. You'll need to update it each time you move your pump when the lava runs dry.

You're asking to do something the game is specifically designed to not do. There is no way to do it.
