For those that just like it to look nice I recommend trying the latest shaders to see just how pretty minecraft can get. Be warned that the performance hit can halve your FPS so it might not be something you want to try all the time but a couple of examples:

These were taken using the ChromaHills 64x resource pack which is actually very nice by itself and similar to Sphax but with an RPG feel. You can get details of the shader mod from [1.7.2]Sonic Ether's Unbelievable Shaders and GLSL Shaders Mod - Minecraft Forum

The last one the next night as it was raining and the fog effect is really cool although in the beta version I was using there are some odd artifacts at night in the rain although you cant see them in this image.

And last one for tonight, incase you ever thought the nether didnt offer enough challenge, the lighting bloom is sunglasses bright.

Thanks. These are good enough to be put on Dead End Thrills:

Will have to try this pack out, too.

Half is an understatement. On my GTX 650, it drops my FPS from 120 to about 25.

Dam, if I did that I would need to wear sunglasses at the computer.

I should probably try this out.

But after I work out how to fix whatever is broken with minecraft at the moment heh.

(Or after I source a pair of 3D glasses...)

This is so cool! I finally got it to work and the results are amazing. Hard to see in the caverns though. ;)

I'm really impressed. I hadn't used Shaders for a while but put the new ones into 1.7.2 and 1.7.5. What a difference!
