Well some good news gents. I called Xbox today about my 2nd Xbox that has died. I bought this second Xbox off a good friend. Well this morning I decided to register it with Xbox.....and low and behold....I'm still covered on the 3 year extended warrenty for the e74 error!! :D

So no $$ for a repair makes Oldskool one hell of a happy gamer!!! I should get my repair box in a few days, and then 2-3 weeks and I'm back!!!

    Cheers,

So you don't require a receipt for purchase in your country just the purchase date?

No. Here in the US the serial numbers are tracked with what model and what year the Xbox was produced. Even though I got this Xbox used, It was registered with Xbox by my friend when he first bought it.

In doing so Microsoft knows when the Xbox was bought. The initial year warranty just ran out in April of this year. Xbox has extended all warrenties on registered Xboxes for 3 years after the initial purchase/registration date. This applies only to the E74 error. As far as I know.

LMAO @ Cammo. Well mate I had no other choice really. It was deal with the Devil or make no deal at all. I'm still really pissed...but the hater-aid goes down a bit smoother now. I won't get my hopes up until I have a working Xbox in my hands again!

UPDATE: Sending my box back this morning. Now comes the dreaded wait...........

Damn Cammo ... you let him off light! We could have milked that for a while longer for sure! ;)

We will just have to wait till he is back on XBL and ask him if he "feels dirty"?

(Glad you are going to back in the land of the consoles though Skool :D)

OS glad to see your back. I feel your pain with the xbox issues. I just had mine repaired for the second time. When it arrived I put my new BC 2 disc in and the door wouldnt open to give it back to me. After wrestling the xbox to the ground I finally got the disc out but it was toasted. So had to spend an hour yelling at some Rep to get me a new Xbox again and credit for a new game. New Xbox arrived in 3 days and still no word on credit for my game. I did however send it back to EA with $20, which they should replace it for me.

Just a big pain in the A** with Microsoft.

Sadly there are hundreds of these kind of posts on the Xbox forums. Think Mircosoft will do anything to change it?......don't think so! Like I said above I'll be happy when I have a working Xbox in my hands. Until then I'm still...well.....FU*%ED!! :)

I'm wondering why my Xbox was delivered on the 6th and still hasn't shown as recived on the "check console status" section on the Xbox site. .....grrrrrrrr I WANT MY XBOX BACK!!!!!

Anyone else see Oldskool sitting on his front porch, XBOX controller in hand, waiting for the mail man with a desperate look of expectation on his face? :D
