Ok if I could get my XBOX to do that ... I would buy Kinect! ;)

A1 the new Kinect allows users to control the XBOX video playback with voice commands.

What I dont understand is why it took Microsoft so long to develop a voice activated controls for the system. Its not like this technology is new, its ancient. And yes, I have proof!!!

Any Automated Telephone service, The Clapper, Clap on Clap Off, Rainbow 6 Vegas had voice support to tell your AI Allies where to go and what to do, same thing with that RTS Tom Clancy game.

So please, why the 4 year development time? And why are we paying 150 dollars for outdated tech?

*coughs* Somehow, I think I just ruined Microsoft's joy about releasing this thing. Also, Project Natel sounded better!!!

Does it still have gesture control like it did in it's promo movies? I liked the idea of that. Saying "X-box this x-box that" sounds kind of irritating to me. I would rather push a button.

I'd love to walk in while someone's half way through watching a film and say "Xbox, off"

So the wife doesn't even need to find the remote before changing the channel during Bathurst?

    All is doomed.

Yoinks. As I was skimming I first read that as *porno* movies...

Not the kind of gesture control to repeat in mixed company. ;)

hmm,,, maybe it will work if you tell the xbox to tell the mrs to get you a beer, then when she wants the tv.. it tells her to get back in the kitchen..lol :D:twisted:

that way the xbox is telling her so you cant get in trouble for saying it lol

as a stand alone at the moment i would say no due to launch titles and the lack of voice recorgnision for kinect here in aus and other countries, looks like this feature will be available 2011 (poor form again MS)

Kinect Will Only Understand Americans, Brits, Japanese & Mexicans | Kotaku Australia

Now if you are in the market for a new slim, then this is a deal worthy of consideration
XBOX 360 250GB Kinect Bundle | Harvey Norman Australia

with slims going for around $429 the extra few dollars will get you kinect and 2 games one of which is probably the best game for the kinect at this time dance central, also the slim powers the kinect and does not require another power outlet, very tempted with this offer, will be intresting to see what the other major retailers have up there sleves when the usual tue/wed junk mail arrives in the post box next week, recent junk mail has been lacking of any 360 promotions apart from games and accessories, so we may see simular bundle deals popping up in the run up to xmas

The Kinect is well overrated and over priced but it has made a difference in gaming.

I got it last weekend and also got a fighting game with it, and it came with one game.

You do need a large room to use it.

Kids had fun with the default game (slightly laggy) but ok.

Was one funny moment when a friend showed up as a person in the raft like a dead weight because he was having a drink on a chair off to the left part of the room while the my son was water rafting.

They are more like concept games still and you pay full price..
