    So cool :)

Totally brings back my youth - and the reason I used to love playing FPS's :p

I've got to just point something out here - I haven't laughed in a game promo trailer for years - and it's not because I lost my humour-glands.... Modern gaming desperately needs a shot of Duke!!! :D

    Hail to the King baby!!

I am guessing quite a few TOG members will be purchasing this game due to the fact that a lot of us played the original to death and loved it.

I have been looking at pre-ordering, but am a little confused with all of the different pre-order deals. Do all copies come with the DLC (unlockable content) that EB Games are offering with the King Edition?

    • Ego boost
    • Big Heads
    • 6 in game custom shirts for Duke to wear
Some mention it, and others don't.

Some retailers are offering pre-order bonuses such as DLC content
Others are offering a Duke baseball cap (JB HIFI)
And others don't mention any kind of addition content.

Some of the deals so far:

ozgameshop.com - Game only? (free delivery) $43.99 AUD
EB Games - King Edition with DLC $98.00 AUD
JB HIFI - Game only? with bonus Duke Nukem baseball cap $89.00 AUD
Steam - Game only? Currently 10% off @ $71.99 USD (reduced from $79.99 USD)

So where are you guys going to purchase the game from?

Grabbed it through Steam - not fussed what it does or doesn't come with - just so long as it gets here :)

And yes, played it to death "back in the day" :D My first (and most memorable) multi-player experience!! The hilarity from shrinking your mate and trying to stomp him to death... ahh those were the days :D

Yeah. Totally underwhelming. It looks pretty, but it plays like its still 1996.

I'd buy this on special for $10-20, but not at the inflated $70+ price tag.

A guess some things are better off left dead.... ;)

Got it, played it, agree that it feels like a 1996 game... but I don't mind one bit :) Still have fond memories of Duke3D, so I'm quite pleased :p

Yeah not far off. No expectations of excellence here. It doesn't take itself seriously, so can get away with a lot. I've said in many other posts, that very few games allow for the player to play, to have fun and not be penalised by it. Ever-present stats keep people aiming for numbers, "class based" whatsits require work... Gone are the days of playing something like Battlefield 1942 and trying to get 31 people wing-walking on the B-17 mid-flight :D Or knife-fighting in Desert Combat...

Brink just felt to me like it took itself way too seriously, but wasn't a serious game.

But as always, different strokes for different folks :)

I must be losing it I'm sure I posted in here yesterday about the duke demo. Now my post is gone. Weird... Anyway while the gameplay itself was not to bad, there was a couple things that bothered me. The fact it had a 2 gun pickup limit as I'm sure duke games had the same kinda deal as doom and quake, you know every weapon adds to your arsonal so you end up with a shedload of guns, then they put in the push the use button to climb a ladder thing. It just annoys the crap outta me and far to many games are putting that in these days. I should be able to go to a ladder look up and climb games have been doing it for years I don't see why we have to backpeddle and put this feature in. The levels in the demo itself where the ones everyones seen already if they've been watching Duke vids. They could of put a couple unseen levels in. But I guess they gotta keep the suspense up so people will actually buy the game. I'll end up getting it. I reckon it'll be alright, well once I get past the 2 gun limit thing. I'm going to give a pre release rating of Meh...
