Can't have enough love for The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. That game changed my entire view on what makes a good RPG.

I loved all the NES Nintendo Games. However, my most favorite is The Legend of Zelda. As for my most favorite one would have to be A Link to the Past.

For me it's a toss-up between Secret of Mana and Dark Cloud 2. They're both beautiful games with rich story lines that can keep a completionist busy for 60+ hours. DC2 let you take pics, invent ideas, put them together with items you either farmed or bought, and then equip/use them. You could also build up and synthesize your weapons. Genius! I usually only like games where you've got a level with hard numbers and experience, but this game went right over the top. As for SoM, it was SNES but it had a great story, catchy music, and fluid overhead movement and went immediately into an active combat mode with no pause. I got it for christmas one year and didn't leave the couch (sleeping maybe 3 hours at a time) until I beat it. Ah, the memories! (note: I also spent hours on Boulderdash, so thumbs up to that one too)

If we're going on how many hours have been spent playing a game, over multiple systems, my vote is going to have to go to Sid Meiers Pirates!

I spent my childhood playing it on the Commodore 64 and as I grew up I played the versions on Atari ST, Amiga CD32, and various versions on the PC. I still play the most recent version every now and again (even with the crazy dancing) and consider the game to be amongst the best I've ever played. The first time I ever came across what became known as a sandbox.

The first Black and white, and dungeon keeper 1 and 2. Why? Because I still fire them up for a play.

I would have to say Civilization. It's a tough pick, but Civ I could play for days and nights in a row.

Sequels in films are often bad, but in games that's not the case. Here are a few I loved:

    Silent Hill II
    Metal Gear Solid II
    Halo 2

Elite (the original). We played that as a family, took turns flying CMDR Jameson round the galaxy full of tedious places and odd aliens.

So many choices, but the series that hooked me would have to be

Commander Keen ( all of them ) Damn pogo stick.

I have to go with X-wing vs Tie fighter. The shear amount of hours I spent in that game were astronomical.

Yeah, Elite was pretty hardcore for back in the day, sandbox in space, it deserves to be in the top 30 games ever :).

    For me.. X-Com Enemy Unknown.

It was the must buy game when ever i went to a new console/personal computer.

I`ve played it on a Amiga 500, 1200, Amiga CD 32, Playstation 1, and PC..

The original for my Amiga 1200 i still have with its 4 diskettes, and pretty big manual.

I remember loving the cover art, but being dissapointed when that alien did not appear in the game itself..

And i still love the franchise, but wish the new Xcom more like the original game.

    A couple runners up:

    Red Baron II
    Frontier Elite II
    Civilization series
    Unreal Tournament @ lanparties.
    Asheron`s Call
    Rome Total War I
    The GTA Series
    Diablo II

For me it has to be games that have aged well. Fundamentally so many games are great for a few years but then are unplayable after 5 to 10 years. For example Half Life 1.

Probably simple still playable games; such as Bubble Bobble, Snow Bros, Pacman, Galaxian etc

Loads of great games but a few are worth mentioning here:

Druid on the commodore 128 (we had no instructions and it took weeks before we found out how to activate a key). Still one of the best experiences ever.
Pengu, because it was memorable that I beat the whole campsite as a kid and kept my highscore on the machine :)
    Red alert 2
Tony Hawk 2, still know the gaplist by heart.
Guild wars, over 2000 hours of play and still not boring.
Tomb raider 1 on the Playstation 1, no matter how nice it looks right now, this is still the best.
Zelda, link to the past. The moment I found out, after hours of playing, that there is a whole extra world that is even bigger than the first one....
    Final Fantasy 7, Aerith....

Yikes, looking at some of those titles...

    Blade of destiny
    Fallout
Fallout 3 (not that old i know, ridiculous number of hours in this game.)
    X-wing vs. tie fighter
    Baldur's Gate
    Eye of the Beholder
Space hulk (loved and hated this game equally)
    Can't forget Zork

Been interesting seeing some the older titles.

Loved Unreal Tournament. Spent the most hours on it. Still holds up today.
