I think they get it three days before launch. Normally they get games 5 days early, but Battlefield is 3 afaik.

So, that's the same as the "early enlister" (pre-order) of the game.

Edit: also pre-orders get Pre-order bonus: Seven day early access to a free map drop

Odd they'd change it. FWIW, EA Access is $7 a month - less yearly. If you're on the fence about getting it, you can get 1 month's worth of EA Access and try BF1 for 10 hours as part of the sub as well as play a whole lot more games for no charge while your sub is active.

...and 10% off your purchases. You can buy it for a month, buy the standard version of the game and save $9-11 off the purchase price of BF1, then cancel EA Access. Some people say that if you cancel early enough they will refund you the $7! Good for penny pinchers ;)

Surely it is a fait accompli for you?
How could you find meaning without a BF component in your life? <chuckle>

    Am I missing something?
    Possibly...

Hasn't this concern about 3D spotting in general been put to bed a long time ago?
Aren't their hard core game modes that remove 3D spotting altogether?
If you don't like spotting go there...
    Not rocket surgery...

    RE: Auto/proximity spotting...
I don't like this because is destroys the stealth aspect of the game...
    It dumbs down the game...
    Not a fan...

    RE: Hackers...
(Yes, yes, I am obsessed with cheating in the game...)
To some degree, 3D spotting helps against those using wall hack...
Part of the reason I don't play HC...
To a small degree 3D spotting evens the playing field...but not by much...
    Anything is better than nothing...
Taking it away would give wall hack even greater power...

BTW, any word on spectator mode?
Another method of unfair play coupled with TS...
And it is pointless in capturing hackers (except for the seriously stupid ones or the ones that don't care) since hacks have warnings when someone is specking them...

Hardcore mode is 60% HP and is very poorly implemented. Because of the low HP, snipers can get one hit kills with a shot in the toe, explosives are far too powerful, gadgets like airbursts and M320s are far too powerful. Things like defensive perk become useless and on and on.

There was classic mode in BF4, but it was only introduced towards the end of the game's life cycle. No word if classic is in BF1 yet

Few people are arguing for the removal of 3D spotting, just toning it down. Things like "auto-spotting" and "proximity-spotting" are completely over the top.

3D spotting makes fog/rain/smoke pointless if you can spot through it and see a massive red dorito. It makes camouflage close to useless if the game automatically puts up a large icon on someone when you accidentally mouse over a bush or the horizon.

BF4 had many 3D spotting mistakes fixes by the CTE, BF1 might repeat those mistakes. Accessibility is great and catering for new or low-skill players is necessary -- but if they make the game so casual that it rips basic skill requirements out then it's a problem imo.

Aiming, seeing the enemy and spotting the enemy should be a basic skill requirement in Battlefield. The auto-spot and proximity-spot and spotting through weather/objects are the main issues.

Westie contradicts himself right in the beginning...
He says:..." many battlefield players... I don't know how many, it could be a very small group, bert <sic>...there are a group of them that don't like 3D spotting..."
I was referring to the many/few/group who have a problem with it... ;)
To them I say, go play HC mode where 3D spotting is turned off...

And as I said, I am not fan of auto and proximity spotting...
The proximity spotting mentioned in the video was a confirmed bug in the alpha according to Westie...
(BTW, Once again I'll say, for a relatively older guy he has bloody good reflexes)...

At the end of BF4's used by date, spotting wasn't possible through smoke...
Hopefully they will implement this in BF1 also...

Firstly, once again the theme of making/keeping things easier for newbies is in evidence...
    Why wouldn't they?
Improving the profit bottom line is what it is all about...

Secondly, it is indeed a "fine line between pleasure and pain..."
But as I have said, if people want a more realistic game they can canvass a customised HC server to suit...
Or choose from the best available options err...available...

BTW, I have had this discussion with people on another forum...
Some, wanted 3D spotting eliminated in all modes...go figure...

    New Gamescom Trailer!

Horses look incredible, the physics look amazing. Sword kills from a horse looks great! Worried by the fact the "super hero" in Armor takes a headshot and shrugs it off. DICE sure as hell know how to make epic trailers!!

Hopefully "elite classes" don't completely destroy game balance.

In WWI the German "horned" helmet was designed to add armour to the front to prevent a head shot kill...
It was very heavy and wasn't generally used. Probably more a sniper or stationary support tool...

I did predict something like this...
I was hoping it would be a general support perk used in conjunction with a heavy machine gun emplacements/setup, but it looks more like a "hero" involvement of some kind as you said, or a map pickup...
The unconventional weapon usage is a give away, imo...
    Pity...

In essence, another map resource to fight over to encourage attacking/defending a particular position in the game like flag C in BF4 locker...
