Just tried the demo of Arma2OA ... I am running GTX 480 sli and the max FPS i get is 18?

I even tried uninstalling 3D Vision driver as sometimes I know that can conflict with games even when its turned off ... low and behold FPS then drops to 12?

I know the demo might not have the support the full version would but could someone please with a similar system tell me their settings so I can have a crack ... I have also tried with sli turned off, mind you that is with everything maxed including the view distance?

But 480 sli surely the game isnt that hardcore?

I had the behaviour where every time I went into the video settings the game would subsequently be slow FPS wise, every time I changed a setting I had to restart the game itself.

I know arma2 demo was terrible FPS wise compared to the patch product, but as you are running AO demo I would think it to be pretty similar to in game performance.

If you use SLI set it to alternate frame rendering mode 2, I believe thats what gave me the best performance.

I run settings normal to high, some settings to very little on very high, you can see the differences pop into view when its panning the scenery in the background.

You should certainly get it running around 25-30 fps, that's what I'm getting.

I should have gotten Combined Operations.

I may still do so closer to the end of my download reset.

I had the same problem after tweaking my Logitech gamepad.

I had to re-start the Boot Camp mission where it was stuck (E10: Attack Helicopter).
    It came good after that..

edit: Restarting from within the mission didn't fix it. I had to leave the mission the restart it from the Boot Camp menu.

I finally got this game after playing the original flashpoint and a bit of ARMA 1 also.

I am very impressed waht changes are to the original and ARMA 1. Would be good for us to have our own forums and also form a squad *hint hint*.

Is ACE and ACRE any good to use (I know there was ACE for Arma also)?

Just starting out the training missions for OA :) (managed to get the two pack on steam. Well worth the price imo)

Saturday night is TOG Arrowhead night. :)

ACE for Arrowhead is not widely adopted yet but it's only a matter of time. ACRE only works if it is installed on the server you are joining and if that's the case then its a mandatory mod.

    What processor are you using?
If you are using an i7, try disabling hyperthreading in your BIOS. It seems that arma does not like hyperthreading. This helped me clear up a lot of the studdering.

Also try specifying the number of cores you are using in the shortcut by adding this command to it:
    -cpuCount=X
where X is the number of cores
The shortcut would then look similar to this:
    "C:\Program Files\Bohemia Interactive\ArmA 2\arma2.exe" -nosplash -cpuCount=4
The same applies to a steam shortcut.

Interesting times last night. It was a bit all over the shop with people getting lost and what not. I'm sure a few of you got tired of hearing my voice. Nice demo on that tower Ned. :)

You guys are MP noobs so I'm not fussed about it but one thing that needs a bit of attention is situational awareness and a better understanding of the battlefield. It pays to camp behind a rock every few minutes and check the map. It lets you know where you are, where the bad guys are and where your friends are.

I was full on last night conducting revive after revive. I lost count how many times I ran out of bandages. :D

Ned - Spec - Ulric - nice work on keeping on my six. I'm usually very busy during missions and you both kept up admirably. :)

With a bit more understanding of the Domination format you'll find unit cohesion will improve.

If anyone's on the fence about this - I'd strongly recommend giving this a shot. Combat sim that it is, there's still a hell of a lot of room for enjoyment and fun. It's simply an awesome game, made all the more so with proper co-op play.

As a total noob it's still just as good - listen to the instructions, ask questions and follow the lead :) Way cool!

8pm (or soon after) sounds good.

ZSU is for the first time opening their servers to the public and running a new type of co-op mission called insurgency.

    I'll be on a different TS3 tonight
    202.62.137.195
    Port 9987
    No password

It's open night and they are encouraging everyone to try this new format. It will be semi-tactical which basically means "for real" but we are totally ready for mistakes, accidents and the "dumb" questions. :) It should be a fun night and I expect to be one of the team leads. Whoo Ra!

You can try XFiring me but I don't get messages in-game so to find me and hook up to my squad, join that TS3 server, jump to the ZSU channel and look for

    Cougar (not Fox)

as that is my Arma2 alias. :)

Vanilla Arrowhead is all you'll need! (+maybe A2 - dunno)

Glad you enjoyed it. :) It is and can be a bit chaotic but war is hell!

I got to be LEAD tonight which was not the plan but that's how the dice rolled. It meant I was very busy and always thinking and on the comms so I wasn't very social or chatty as I had three squads to think of.

Father was in my squad as was spirit walker eventually. I'm not sure how your experience was with Gnarly - he's pretty patient so you should have been right. :)
