I've 99% finished my cocktail table (MAME) and it is worth every second of research and effort in building it. It's a great way to hold on to the great memories of your youth. Here's a pic of my almost completed table.

Well done to those who managed to put em together!... I cringe at the thought of doing it myself, but at least you can buy the buggers for not much more than a decent laptop these days :)

I was working at Motorola and got into pinball and arcade machines to learn some electronics. Through semiconductor sales office I was able to "sample" a lot of repair parts. Later moved to Williams in Chicago, IL, USA and was able to get pinball parts direct. :)

Had some chop-socky jamma game cabinet that I converted to a Rampage.

First pinball was a Gottlieb Arena. Sold that one off and bought a wrecked Williams High Speed. Refurbished that one and picked up a Bally Centaur. Then a Midway Goldball. Jumped back to video and picked up Williams Sinistar. Those were followed by Data East Phantom of the Opera and Bally Addams Family pinballs and a Williams cocktail cabinet with Defender and Stargate board sets.

Then lost all that nice game area when a job layoff occurred. Now down to one Data East Rocky and Bullwinkle pinball machine.

Happ Controls and Marco Specialties (both USA companies) have been pretty good for parts. Even made up some control panels to interface with the computer that had arcade joysticks and buttons.

I bought this from an old warehouse clearance and have been slowley restoring it over the last 6 months. The game now works, though i still need to source some new speakers, new coin mechanisms and see if i can get more original decals for it, (if that fails hire a graphic art student and get new ones drawn up). Hopefully over the next 6 -12 months i will have it in a good condition again.

I am currently rebuilding my Mame cabinet. What started out with a simple monitor upgrade has blown out to a full overhaul :D

Anyway, I am posting progress pics on Aussie Arcade HERE.

You will need to register to have a look if you want, but registration is pretty non invasive :)

I've been wanting to build one for a while. Though the missus won't allow me due to a lack of room
