It's looking likely to be similar to Destiny so MMOShooter although it's no Planetside ...

I'm testing this weekend. My in-game name will probably be "Elondra" or "Elondra Numbwit" depending on the name-length restrictions.

If they require my Origin name to be my test name, it will be "DolnorNumbwit"

I also have to fit in a couple sessions of Alpha testing Torchlight Frontiers in this weekend too!

So many Alphas, so little time! LOL

Really hoping it's more along the lines of an MMORPG. I've been hoping for a long time that Anthem will help fill the spot that Firefall left.

I worry when a Publisher (EA) announces when a game is going to be released...and they only allow 1 month for testing. EVERY SINGLE TIME this has happened, the game released is Very Buggy, Crashes, and Word Gets Out. And people don't buy the game. And emergency updates start hitting. One year later, the game has 20% of the population of the potential population *IF* then had released a well-tested stable game...and it takes that 1 year to actually make the game stable and enjoyable.

Year after year (20 years so far), this has continued. I have the bad feeling that those in the upper management who released a very-unfinished game..move on to other companies to do the same thing over and over. They don't care, they've got their $$$$$$$$...screw everyone else! >.<

My character's name is "Elondra Numbwit". I tested about 4 hours and played another 13 hours! -)

I can't add you...there are 60+ users with the name Darkduck in theirs. I never saw Darkduck.

Sorry to dash your hopes but Anthem is not a MMO. It's designed around small groups of up to four players - think Tom Clancy's the Division. There are no social spaces, no text chat (at all), Bioware have been very quiet on clan functionality so I suspect that it will be even more minimal that the dreadful system Bungie used in Destiny 2. I've played the Alpha and it was enough fun for me to order the game.

Bioware's "Our World My Story" philosophy has shaped a lot of the design decisions and their desire for a full immersive world precludes including anything that would take you out of the experience. It would be like having Barrens Chat (a WoW reference, but essentially an endless stream of purile, infantile spam) in one ear while you are reading a book or watching your favourite TV show.

I remember Barrens Chat. What a waste of energy having to quest in that area, listening to all the garbage.
